Polycarbonate compounds are characterised by having high impact strength, good temperature resistance and good optical properties. Polycarbonate is highly transparent to visible light and has better light transmission characteristics than many kinds of glass. Polycarbonate is mainly used for electronic applications that benefit from its collective safety features. It is a good electrical insulator and has high heat resistant and good flame retardant properties. Compounds with a range of viscosity, modified properties, colours and special effects are available.
